Broadway Boulevard

Mayor Bloomberg plans to close part of Broadway to vehicle traffic in an experiment to start around May and last through the year; it may become permanent if it reduces traffic congestion and improves general traffic flow. As a result, parts of Times Square and Herald Square will become "pedestrian malls" replete with tables, chairs, and flora.
